Exploring Tokyo's Natural Spots

Tokyo is about more than just about tall buildings and busy streets. It has beautiful natural places too.

Akigawa Valley, Okutama, and Mount Takao are popular spots. They are easy to reach from the city.

Akigawa Valley


Akigawa Valley is in Akiruno City. It stretches to Hinohara Village.

The Akigawa River flows here.

The valley is about 20 km long. It is famous for its beautiful views in every season.

Many visit in spring and fall to see the leaves and trees.

Okutama

Okutama is also a starting point for mountain climbing.


Mount Takao

Mount Takao is in Hachioji City. It is 599 meters high and part of Meiji no Mori Takao Quasi-National Park.

It is easy to get to the city, so many people visit all year.

Mount Takao is famous for its beauty and hiking trails. Each trail has its level of difficulty and scenery.

In autumn, many people come to see the colorful leaves.
